We were told that this young black bear was a frequent visitor to an Ontario, Canada fishing lodge on Tetu Lake. The staff was used to him coming around pretty much every night with some other bears...the fishermen always enjoyed seeing them. One night, he didn't show up for meal time, which was not normal. Several of the staff did a little search and found him near the lodge...he had been attacked by a wolf. Whether he was actually killed by the wolf or injured where the staff had to put him down, I am not certain. In any case, the story goes that he was killed by a wolf.
My wife and I saw the bear several times during a 2-week kiosk show at Costco promoting the fishing lodge. This bear was one of the displays for that promotion.
My wife and I were together at Costco the day before the close of this promotional show, and I arranged to buy the bear...with thoughts of shipping him back to our home at Pine Mountain Club, CA (in the heart of black bear country) as these black bears are very frequent visitors there. However, we both really like him, and since we spend most of our time here in Louisville...well, he lives here instead.
We call him Tetu...where he was from in Ontario, Canada. So...that's his story and he's sticking to it!
